Cambodia to have a juvenile rehabilitation center and drug rehabilitation center for juveniles.
Kandal: Cambodia will have a Youth Rehabilitation Center and a drug rehabilitation center for juvenile offenders transferred out of prison, and in the first year, it planned to detain 500 juvenile offenders and have a total capacity of 2,000. People.
Mr. Kong Sophoan, Governor of Kandal Province, said during an inspection that this is the first time that Cambodia has built a center for this purpose, that allows transferring young people to a facility that can help them start a new life.
The center is located in Bar Kou village, Bar Kou commune, Kandal Stung district and it is expected to accommodate 500 people during the first year and has a total capacity of 2,000 people.
The Youth Rehabilitation Center has a vital role in managing minors, providing education, vocational training, psychological education, treatment, care, protection, and helping children become honest and practical citizens for society.
The Youth Rehabilitation Center covers 48,830 square meters and has 15 buildings, including five new buildings and ten renovations. The renovation started on February 20, 2020 and was completed on February 20, 2021 while the construction of the Drug rehabilitation center on 19,748 square meters started on March 15, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed on January 15, 2022.
